Is glue included?
The glue is not included in your order, but Maison Janette offers one from just €6.90.
Where do I put the glue?
If you have the slightest question about laying your strips, don't panic, the "Janette's tips" page has been specially designed to help you 😉
How do you remove traces of glue?
Avoid getting glue on the front of the wallpaper as much as possible. If you do, don't panic, but you'll need to act quickly! Using a damp sponge, remove any excess glue immediately. Gently wipe over the glue stain (without rubbing) and push it outwards! Then, with a dry cloth or cotton tissue, tap directly on the stain to absorb the moisture.
Made from potato starch, the glue we've chosen is environmentally friendly and perfectly suited to our non-woven wallpaper.
And the little extra: a handy measuring lid!
So, shall we get stuck in?
Do you install the decorations?
Maison Janette does not install decorations.
Do you have an installation guide?
Yes, you can find all our advice in the "Janette's tips" tab 😉
How do I prepare my wall?
For best results, your wall should be dry, clean and smooth.
To find all the steps you need to take to hang your wallpaper in the best possible conditions, take a look at the "Janette's tips" tab 😉
Can I remove my wallpaper and re-install it?
You can still reposition the wallpaper while the glue is still drying. Once the glue has dried, you can easily remove the wallpaper, but it cannot be repositioned. That's why we suggest you carefully follow the wallpaper hanging instructions in the "Janette's tips" tab 😉
Can I hang wallpaper in a shower room?

PAINTS
Good to know: Paint should always be judged and appreciated dry!

Is there a wood panelling range?
There is a range of woodwork for your interior furniture. But remember: it's not designed for exterior woodwork!
Is there a colour difference between the photos on the website and the final wall photo?
Yes, there is a slight difference! The difference between the colours in photography and paint is that light works with an RGB (Red, Green, Blue) colour wheel, whereas paint uses a CMY (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) wheel, which is why we recommend that you order a sample beforehand. To do this, simply go directly to the paint you're interested in and you'll be offered the option of receiving a sample for 3 euros.
How can I avoid paint splashes during application?
You can avoid paint splashes by using masking tape to protect adjacent areas that you don't want to paint. You can also use protective tarpaulins to cover floors and furniture, and wear protective clothing to avoid staining yourself. Use a moderate amount of paint on your brush or roller. Also avoid applying too much pressure to the brush or roller.
How do I prepare a surface before painting it?
Surface preparation is crucial to achieving a satisfactory result. It often involves cleaning, sanding, filling holes and cracks and masking surfaces that are not to be painted.
In what order should I paint the walls in my room?
For best results, start by painting from top to bottom. Practical, isn't it?
Which paint should I use for my ceiling?
We recommend that you use a matt finish for your ceilings! This finish has the advantage of masking small surface imperfections, which is particularly useful for ceilings, which are not always perfectly smooth. Matt paint also absorbs light better, preventing annoying reflections. This gives the ceiling a more uniform appearance.
How long will the paint last?
Maison Janette paint will keep for 1 year.
When my project is finished, where should I store the paint?
First of all, we recommend that you seal your can of paint tightly and keep it in a dry place.
You can keep it for small touch-ups (you're never safe from a snag!) or for a first coat on another wall, especially if it's a light colour.
How do I choose the best finish for my project?
To choose the most suitable finish for your project, you first need to know what finish you want to achieve. If you want a powdery finish, opt for a matt finish, whereas if you want something a little shinier and more enveloping, opt for a velvet finish. You should also bear in mind that matt finishes are not recommended for bathrooms or ceilings, whereas velvet finishes are.
How many coats of paint should I apply?
Start with a coat of undercoat, then two coats for matt or velvet paints. Be careful, some colours may require more than two coats!
How do you apply paint without problems?
1. Draw a pretty ‘W’ with your roller over 1 m².
2. Then criss-cross the passes: first horizontally, then vertically.
3. For the final touch, gently roll in one direction only (horizontal or vertical, it's up to you!) to avoid streaks. And use a generous amount of paint, it helps!
4. Repeat m² by m².
How can I avoid paint drips?
Paint drips can be avoided by applying a thin, even coat of paint, avoiding overloading the brush or roller.
If you're using tape:
- Never let the paint dry before removing the tape, otherwise you'll end up with a mess! Remove it straight after you've finished painting.
- Pro tip: Stick the tape on tightly, press down to ensure it adheres well, then paint a thin coat with the colour of the wall above before tackling the wall below.
How do you create the corners and edges?
- Load your brush well with paint (yes, a lot, don't be afraid!). Preferably use a bevelled brush!
- Flatten the bristles well at the same time as you crush the ‘bead’ of paint with your roller. A real master stroke!
How do I maintain a painted surface?
Maintaining a painted surface often involves regular cleaning to prevent the build-up of dust and dirt. It's important to avoid abrasive products that could damage the painted surface.
Do the wallpapers and paints match?
Yes, because we love infinite creations, our paints have been designed to match our wallpapers perfectly.
How do I choose the right brushes?
- For rollers: 10 mm polyester microfibre (a classic!)
- For rechampi: A special water-based brush (because we like it precise)
Tip from the Maison Janette team : before each use of your roller, wrap it in masking tape, then tear it off to remove any stubborn hairs that could end up on your wall!
How do I wash my brushes?
1. First, scrape off any leftover paint as if you wanted to save every drop. It's ecological and economical!
2. Rinse your brushes once with water.
3. Round two: soapy water to clean them thoroughly!
4. Rinse until the water runs clear, just like after a good wash!
Tip from the Maison Janette team : Warm water works best!
So get out your brushes and rollers! 🎨
